We were delighted to attend the official opening of the new National Archives Repository at Bishop Street, marking the completion of a landmark conservation and construction project in the heart of Dublin.

The event was attended by Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport Patrick O’Donovan TD and Minister of State with responsibility for the OPW Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran, highlighting the national importance of this significant investment in Ireland’s archival infrastructure.

As Main Contractor, Duggan Brothers delivered the complex transformation of the existing warehouse into a purpose-built, state-of-the-art archival repository while the National Archives remained fully operational throughout the construction programme. The project involved major structural works, specialist climate-controlled storage environments, enhanced fire protection systems and infrastructure designed to support future expansion.

The completed facility will help preserve millions of Ireland’s most important historical records while significantly increasing storage capacity and supporting future generations of researchers, historians and the wider public.

We are proud to have played a role in delivering a project of such lasting national value and would like to thank the Office of Public Works, the design team, project partners and our dedicated site team whose expertise and commitment made its successful delivery possible.
