We were delighted to welcome Portlaoise Fire Service to our Portlaoise Garda Headquarters project for a vital emergency evacuation training exercise from our tower crane on Monday morning.
As part of the session, the team carried out a rope rescue drill — a potentially life-saving procedure should a medical emergency occur in the tower crane.
Our tower crane operators face unique risks as they work alone, at height, and in confined spaces.
We were delighted to also have Mick Norton from Proactive Safety in attendance, collaborating closely on lift operations and contributing his expertise to the day’s activities.
The knowledge and expertise shared by Portlaoise Fire Service — along with the valuable input from Proactive Safety — were invaluable in helping us strengthen our emergency protocols. Ensuring we have the right practices and procedures in place is essential to protect everyone on our sites, particularly those in such critical roles.
A big thank you to the crew for their time, skill, and dedication — and to our tower crane operators, whose work is a key part of our daily operations.
