We have commenced works on a new 50-bed unit within the existing St. Vincent’s Community Nursing Unit, Mountmellick Campus on behalf of the HSE. The new wing will be built to the North East of the site – near the road on a green area, connecting back to the existing hospital.
The existing CNU was originally built on the site of a former famine workhouse and currently has circa 80 beds with some large wards lying closed as they are not compliant with HIQA patient standards. The planned works will replace these large wards with single ensuite bedrooms which will increase the capacity of the CNU.
The works comprise underground service diversions, demolition to existing on site buildings, connecting the new unit with the existing on-site buildings and relocation of existing campus facilities (such as – plant, laundry, ESB Substation etc.).
This phase will not impact on current accommodation and service operations.
Works are expected to be completed in Q1 2025.
