Applications have officially opened for the state’s first purpose-built cost rental scheme, located off the Enniskerry Road, on Dublin’s south side. We are delighted to be delivering this project for both Respond and Tuath Housing, which will offer low- and middle-income households the choice of a more affordable, long term and stable form of rental tenure than exists presently, with the added benefit that their rent will not be driven by market price changes in the private rental market.

50 two-bedroom apartments will be available for rent at a monthly cost of €1200 to low- and middle-income workers at prices up to 30% below market rents for the area, under the new pilot cost rental scheme. The scheme is aimed at individuals who are above the threshold for social housing but are unable to afford a home of their own. The rent of €1200 per month, which is based on the cost of delivering and maintaining the homes, is a significant reduction when compared to market rents for two-bedroom apartments in this location.

Housing agencies Respond and Tuath Housing will manage the homes. Applications opened on the 7th September and will close on Monday 13th September. Eligible tenants will be randomly chosen in a lottery style selection process. Those eligible to apply are those who earn less than €53,000 a year, and are not in receipt of any social housing supports and don’t own a property.

The site in Stepaside will also provide 105 social homes which will be shared out between Respond & Tuath Housing.
