Swords Cultural Quarter

The Swords Cultural Quarter is a landmark initiative designed to establish a vibrant cultural hub in Swords, aligning with the Sustainable Swords Strategy to ensure sustainable growth and an enhanced quality of life for both residents and visitors. This transformative project is being delivered on behalf of Fingal County Council, positioning Swords as a model for modern urban development.

As the appointed main contractor, our team is dedicated to delivering this prestigious project, which will house:

  • A new County Library
  • A 165-seat theatre
  • An art gallery
  • Arts spaces and a makerspace
  • A café

In addition, the project includes significant upgrade works on North Street, enhancing the public realm and improving connectivity between the Cultural Centre and Swords Castle.

The Cultural Centre has been designed by award-winning architects O’Donnell and Tuomey, whose acclaimed portfolio includes:

  • Central European University, Budapest
  • Glucksman Gallery, University College Cork
  • Lyric Theatre, Belfast

The innovative design is set to create a new cultural vision for the region.

Community Impact

As one of 16 projects within the Sustainable Swords Strategy, the Swords Cultural Quarter is pivotal to Fingal County Council’s vision for sustainable urban expansion. By integrating diverse cultural and public spaces, the project will revitalise the local area, foster community engagement, and create a dynamic environment that enriches the social and cultural fabric of Swords.
