The redevelopment of the National Archives at Bishop Street, Dublin 8, involves the substantial removal...
The Portlaoise Garda Divisional Headquarters project is a transformative initiative that combines the refurbishment and expansion of the existing Garda station with a complete modernisation of facilities. As the main contractor, we are proud to deliver a state-of-the-art headquarters that will serve as the Laois-Offaly Division hub, reinforcing An Garda Síochána’s vital mission of safeguarding communities.
Located within a historic fort, the project involves constructing a new three-story office block on the army site behind the current station, alongside extensive renovations and partial rebuilding of the existing structure. Notably, the two-story gymnasium (built in 1910) and two additional buildings from the 1980s are being replaced by a cohesive, purpose-built facility designed to meet the evolving needs of Garda personnel.
Design & Infrastructure:
Designed as a modern, functional hub, the new headquarters will feature advanced infrastructure that supports the operational demands of a growing community. The facility is intended to address both current policing requirements and future growth—reflecting substantial government investment in modernising Garda infrastructure. The design takes full advantage of the site’s historic context while integrating state-of-the-art construction techniques, ensuring that the facility is not only efficient and secure but also adaptive to future challenges such as the increasing population and high security demands in Portlaoise.
Community Impact:
The new Divisional Headquarters will play a crucial role in strengthening community safety by enhancing operational support for the Laois-Offaly Division of An Garda Síochána. By replacing outdated facilities with a modern headquarters, this project demonstrates a significant commitment to creating safer communities. The enhanced infrastructure is set to improve response capabilities and provide a robust foundation for future growth in a rapidly evolving urban landscape.
The Portlaoise Garda Divisional Headquarters project is a major step forward in modernising Garda infrastructure and supporting the evolving needs of public safety. Combining the historic character of its location with cutting-edge design and functionality, this state-of-the-art facility is poised to make a lasting impact on community safety and the overall effectiveness of policing in the region. We are thrilled to contribute our expertise to this transformative project, which promises to be a cornerstone for safer, more resilient communities in the near future.
