Clonmel Garda District Headquarters

Duggan Brothers is delivering the new Clonmel Garda District Headquarters at the historic Kickham Barracks site, a key element of the wider town-centre regeneration of this landmark location.

The project involves the construction of a modern, purpose-built Garda HQ, replacing the existing Emmett Street station and providing a secure, highly efficient operational base for An Garda Síochána serving South Tipperary.

The development comprises:

• A new multi-storey Garda District Headquarters building (2–4 storeys)
• A separate ancillary building accommodating plant, storage and support functions
• Secure internal courtyards and controlled parking facilities
• Extensive hard and soft landscaping to integrate the new buildings within the historic setting
• Careful retention, repair and consolidation of protected stone boundary walls
• Full connection to public water, foul and surface water infrastructure

The site is a Protected Structure and forms part of the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage, requiring a highly sensitive approach to construction. Duggan Brothers is carrying out works to ensure that the historic fabric of Kickham Barracks is preserved and enhanced, including the careful integration of the existing Dillon Street stone boundary wall into the new development.

By combining modern construction techniques with traditional conservation methods, this project will deliver a state-of-the-art civic building while respecting the architectural and cultural importance of the site.

On completion, the new Clonmel Garda HQ will provide a secure, efficient and future-ready facility for An Garda Síochána, while contributing to the continued regeneration and revitalisation of Clonmel town centre.
