Description

This project on the live UCD Campus Belfield comprised of a three storey extension (with single storey enclosed roof plant area) to the existing School of Business. The extension incorporated an additional lecture theatre with learning areas, collaboration work spaces, classrooms, huddle/meeting rooms, studios, booths, an extension to the existing café/lounge and all ancillary areas (i.e. storage, toilets, etc.). Minor reconfiguration to existing School of Business, including removal of two balconies.

The works also included some soft and hard landscaping, site services and the provision of 70 bicycle parking spaces adjacent to the existing building. The total gross floor area of the development is c.3, 000 m2 (with an additional c.103 m2 of enclosed roof plant)

The new extension was linked to the adjoining Lochlann Quinn building at all levels (i.e. the existing façade was removed, with the new building constructed as an extension). The link to the existing building incorporated redecoration of rooms and circulation areas.

The project was on a live university campus and within / adjacent to live Lochlann Quinn Building and Sutherland School of Law; phasing of the works was required to suit the academic year. The main structure of the complex building includes Structural Steel, In-situ concrete, Curtain Walling, Stone Cladding, and Mechanical, Electrical and Lift Installations.
