Description

We have reached the milestone of Energization of Ireland’s first 100MW BESS & 110kV Contestable Substation on behalf of Lumcloon Energy in Derrcarney, Co. Offaly.
The Station was Commissioned by ESBN for the Planned Energization of the Station in December 2020. The facility includes the 110/33kV IPP Substation and Lumcloon Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) with the completion of the 40 no MVPS and Battery Container installation.

The Energy Storage Facility for the battery storage of energy from the Electrical Grid will provide a system reserve and to enable the supply of stored electrical energy back into the Grid at the appropriate times to smooth power fluctuations. The site contains a series of battery storage units and control buildings, together with associated site works including Grid connection installation, access roadways, footpaths, paving, drainage, and landscaping.
