We were proud to attend the official opening yesterday of the new Dublin Simon Community Health & Addiction Residential Treatment Facility at Usher’s Island, delivered by Duggan Brothers in partnership with an outstanding project team.
The ceremony was led by Taoiseach Micheál Martin, alongside Dublin Simon Chair Kathryn Holly and CEO Catherine Kenny, marking an important step forward in Ireland’s response to homelessness and addiction care. The event was also attended by the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Councillor, Ray McAdam, Minister for Housing James Browne TD and Minister of State at the Department of Health with responsibility for Public Health, Wellbeing and the National Drugs Strategy, Jennifer Murnane O Connor TD, together with representatives from the Departments of Housing and Health, the HSE, Dublin City Council and the Dublin Region Homeless Executive.
This purpose-built centre brings together homeless-specific healthcare, addiction treatment and recovery services under one roof — a first of its kind in Ireland. The six-storey development provides up to 100 beds, along with specialist medical, detox, rehabilitation and semi-acute care spaces designed to support people at their most vulnerable.
Delivered over a 28-month construction programme, the project includes modern treatment areas, counselling and meeting rooms, gym and wellbeing spaces, all carefully planned to create a safe, dignified and healing environment for residents and staff alike.
Projects like this reflect what construction can achieve when it is truly community focused. We are honoured to have played a part in delivering a facility that will make a real, lasting difference in Dublin.
Congratulations to the Dublin Simon Community and everyone involved in bringing this important project to life.
