Thank you to all cyclists that participated in our ‘Trip to Tipp’ at the end of August. This year we decided to make a company charitable donation to two charities – Cystic Fibrosis Ireland (Tipperary Branch) and Laura Lynn, Ireland’s Children’s Hospice. Duggan Brothers have donated €1500 to both charities.
Cystic fibrosis is a multi-organ disease that primarily affects the lungs and digestive system. A defective gene and its protein product cause the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus that; clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections; obstructs the pancreas and stops natural enzymes from helping the body break down and absorb food.
The impact of CF can vary from one person to another. There are some people with CF who live until their teens and there are others that live in to their 50’s.
Laura Lynn is a hospice for children with life-limiting conditions and residential care for children and young adults with disabilities. Their holistic approach to care enables them to support the whole family, allowing parents to be ‘Mums and Dads’ rather than full-time carers.
Thank you again to our cyclists and all staff that contributed.
